Sweet Things and Biscuits

Bake Sale Biscuits
With Hurricane Sandy on her way, and some truly awful wet weather this week I very glad of an excuse to stay at home, and have been busy baking for a Halloween bake sale.

Blackberry and Apple Crumble
Unable to resist, I popped a couple of £s into the honesty box and came home with an extra large punnet of blackberries precariously perched in my bike basket. And, yes, rather predictably, made Blackberry and Apple Crumble.

Chocolate Fudge
As none of us are due back at work or school until next week, I have been snacking on the remains of the fudge I made for yesterday’s walk.

 Easter Biscuits
Hide in a biscuit tin at the back of the pantry to make sure there are some left for Easter!

Flapjack
I am now sitting toes up with a large mug of tea and a piece of flapjack.

Jam Roly Poly
After all, isn’t the proof of the pudding in the eating?

Lemon Tart
My husband came back for a third (yes, I did say third!) slice and best of all my pastry bottom was not in the least bit soggy – a definite win as far as I was concerned.

Pavlova
I realised it had been far too long since I made Pavlova.

Profiteroles
To the trained eye my “bite sized” morsels would most definitely have been considered over-large and more than a touch misshapen.  They did, however, taste pretty good!

Pumpkin Cookies
These cookies are melt-in the mouth light and almost cake-like in texture. Or as my daughter described them cookie-a-licious.

Raisin and Oat Cookies
Since we moved to Canada Tim Horton’s has become a regular coffee stop…..my favourite has to be their raisin and oat cookies.  This week I made my own.

Scones {in the sunshine}
Yesterday after school we sat on the deck in the sunshine and had a proper Cornish cream tea (or as close we could get since we are simply unable to find clotted cream here).

Shortbread
Even though the house is still bursting with leftover cake and chocolate from Christmas, I am making a batch of shortbread ready for tomorrow night.

Strawberry Shortcake
Since the sun is still shining…..it is most definitely a Strawberry Shortcake type of day.

Tarte Tatin
As I am not particularly fond of puff pastry (quite frankly too much “puff” for me), I made my tarte using sweet shortcrust pastry instead.
